Refund policy

Due to the nature of the products in our store being personalized or made-to-order, all purchases are Final Sale. We do not offer exchanges, returns, or refunds—with some special exceptions as outlined below.
Digital Products
Ebooks which have not been downloaded may be eligible for a refund. No refunds are available after the book has been downloaded to your device or BookFunnel library.
Gift Cards are non-refundable, do not expire, and may not be redeemed for cash.
Signed Books and Pre-orders
Any orders for signed or personalized books cannot be canceled, exchanged, or refunded once they have been prepared for shipping. If you ordered an incorrect book, please notify us immediately so we can make the necessary fixes.
Pre-order items are not eligible for cancellation or refunds after they are signed and prepared for shipping. Any pre-order cancellation may be subject to a small fee to cover payment processing costs.
Involuntary Returns
We do not offer refunds for any orders which are returned, rejected, or undeliverable. Please double check your shipping information and provide a phone number where you can be reached by the shipping company. If your order is returned to us in New Condition, we will reach out to you to arrange reshipment. If we don’t hear back from you within 30 days we may refund your order (minus shipping costs) and return the product to our inventory.
Incorrect or Damaged Products
As book lovers, we make every effort to design and produce beautiful books for your collection. We check each book before packaging them, but manufacturing errors can be missed and there is a small risk of damage during shipping.
Due to the unique features of our special edition hardcovers, some minor variances are expected and perceived imperfections may not qualify as damage or errors. Please see our special edition care guide for best practices when handling your books.
If you receive an item which is incorrect or damaged, please notify us within 15 days of the delivery date by replying to your order confirmation email or contacting us at help@darkowlfantasy.com. Be sure to include photos of any damage to the book and the packaging in your email. Please see our warranty and remedy guidelines below.
Issues and Remedies
These criteria are general guidance. Our team will manually review each concern and all remedies will be offered at our discretion. We will work to resolve all issues quickly but cannot guarantee specific timelines. These guidelines also apply to products from our crowdfunding campaigns.
Eligible for remedy:
- Manufacturing defects that affect the intended use of the product (example: missing pages, multiple torn pages, broken spine).
- Manufacturing defects that noticeably affect the front cover (excluding dust jackets).
- Damage caused by shipping (after the claims process is completed).

Not eligible for remedy:
- Free or bonus items included with your order.
- Any fading, smudging, bleeding, or errors with author signatures or personalization.
- Blemishes, minor scratches, or manufacturing variance.
- Creasing, wrinkles, or dents on or inside the book or dust jacket.
- Regular handling and shelf wear.
- Improper use, modification, negligence, or damage that occurred after delivery.

Potential remedies at our sole discretion include, but are not limited to, store credit, partial refunds, or replacement products. Customers are responsible for all costs related to taxes, duties, and import fees unless otherwise specified. (See our shipping page for more information.) Customers may be responsible for related shipping costs.
