Special Edition Care Guide

If your special edition arrived damaged, please read our Refund Policy for instructions on opening a ticket.

While it isn’t necessary to handle your special editions any differently than you would your other books, these are some tips and recommendations of caring for and storing your books.

General care

  • Prolonged handling of the hardcover can cause fading of the foil from the heat and oils of your hands. While reading, we recommend leaving the dust jacket on!
  • The printed edges may stick together when the book is first opened. Gently bend the pages to separate them and enjoy the one-of-a-kind sound of a newly opened printed-edge book!
  • Avoid setting objects on top of the book that may leave marks or dents on the covers.
  • Avoid picking up the books by only the front or back cover, which could damage the cover and end papers.
  • To remove any dust jacket creases, lay the jacket flat, smooth out the creases, and place something heavy on top of the affected area for a couple of days.

Faux-leather covers

  • Due to the unique features of our faux leather-bound books, some minor variances are expected.
  • Use a soft, clean cloth to gently wipe away any lint, dust, or marks.
  • Do not scrub or scratch at the faux-leather or foil.
  • Lotions/creams, oils, or sweat on your skin may leave smudges on the faux-leather, foil, end papers, or black interior pages.

Cloth covers

  • Use a clean, dry cloth to gently wipe away any lint, dust, or marks. Do not use a damp or wet cloth as this may leave water marks on the cloth.
  • Do not scrub or scratch at the foil.
